Fawn and Ralph

I cannot explain how much fun I had taking these pictures. It's amazing how you can be so different from someone yet have so much in common. That is how I feel with this mother and son.

Fawn and I work together at YESS, and there have been many times when we both look at each other and say, “that is SO how I am”. We’re the type of people who might run a bit late, but will come armed with an extra coffee to make up for our tardiness, and hopefully soothe a frustrated look! Fawn has given me so much encouragement and her kind words have left me blushing more than once. She’s one of those people you want to surround yourself with, and I’m so happy to have met her! And yes I know, how amazing does this over 30 year old Hot Mama look? (yes, I said 30!!)

Ralph is the COOLEST kid I have ever met. He is so much his own person; which is amazing to me since he is at the age when all a kid wants to do is conform. He loved getting his picture taken… I’ve never seen someone break out so many stellar poses. I was commenting to him on how he seemed so comfortable in front of the camera and he said to me, “yeah sometimes when I’m in my room, I just pretend someone is taking my picture when I look in the mirror.” AH! I could eat the kid up!

the boy's got skills.

Work. it. out.

Class is in Session.

I'd like to introduce Miss Gettman - the teacher!
Ashley just got into the Teach For American program, and will be teaching in Colorado for the next two years!  She had been waiting for the day when she would find out, and when she called me and said, "I got in!!" I screamed like a proud mother at a toddler beauty pagent - No joke!
We've had so many long conversations and late night chats about our future and not knowing what we're going to do. I'm so happy for her that she finally has a path to go on !
She is going to do amazing in this be adventure, and  couldn't deserve it more.
Here is the new teacher looking ohhhhhh so fine and ready to spread some of her wisdom to some kiddos!

Hello Gorgeous.

The Minear Women.

Emily and I met during rush of our freshman year of college and  became close friends fast. Most of my favorite memories from that year include her in them. We have embarressing videos taken on a digital camera of us vowing to be in each others wedding that were taken in a fraternaty bathroom! :) While other girls were out doing there thing, and we were sitting in there professing our friendship!! Emily is the type of girl who's sugar sweet, ozzes class, and has a dash of crazy all wraped into one.  I asked her if she would let me take pictures of her and her mom and she excitedly said she'd love to!!!!

While I sat at Smookey Row with Emily and her mom, Lisa, I explained that I just wanted them to sip their coffee, chat, and enjoy each other’s company . They giggled and said " oh we're so good at that, we do it all the time!" I don't think I've ever seen a cuter mother daughter relationship; it was so much fun to capture. Their love for each other radiates and you can't help but feel it when you’re around them.

They said they always start their chats like this!! HOW CUTE!

If I could pick one word to describe how I feel about photography it would be excited.
I get so excited when I sit and dream up ideas for an upcoming shoot. I get nervous/excited butterflies when I'm on my way to take the pictures, not knowing what's in store. On my way home I'm like a kid on Christmas morning; I can barely contain myself from tearing into my camera to see how the photos turned out.  I've been leery going into the photography thing, fearing that I'm not good enough to do it "for real".  Well, I'm over feeling stupid, and now I'm  over the moon excited to jump into this thing head first.

More about me you ask?
I very much like the following:
Glasses of wine that lead to dancing. People who will tickle my back and not insist on being reciprecated. ( I however, am not one of those people) Staying in bed and reading all day. Knock knock jokes( My friends and I seem to think this is the perfect icebreaker) Breakfast any time of the day. Watching movie trailers and then obsessivly asking other people if they have heard of "this new movie that looks soooooo good".

I could do without the following:
How anyone and everyone can see inside my VERY messy car. Grumpy people. Situations that force me to do mental math in front of someone. Spicy food. When people think they are too good for TV- Have you seen Modern Family??
